Historic, vibrant, exciting......a much over looked city in France.  There is always something going on from festivals, architecture, galleries andtheatre.  The Palais de la Bourse with its stunning river front is a must see.

Book and buy a Citypass online which gives you unlimited public transport, access to 30 museums and monuments as well as a city tour.  Prices start at Euros 23.00 for a one day pass.  An alternative is to drive to the outskirts where you can easily pick up signs for "park and tram".  I would recommend it.  It is very easy.  Park in the car park, pop to the tram station and get a ticket (4.50 euros for our parking and tram rides for 3 of us) - make sure you stamp your ticket when on the trams in the machines by the door and then just use it to leave the car park when you are ready for home.

We visited this Christmas (2015) and found the city incredibly easy to walk around, everything being close together.  We found the atmosphere vibrant and exciting.  There was a wonderful Christmas market, the most beautiful lights and an abundance of eateries and shopping.  I noticed that the prices were extremely reasonable and it didn't seem to display that usual "city tax" on everything.  We will definitely return in the summer, being just 40 minutes from home.
